Welcome to Leeds Black Awards

LEEDS BLACK AWARDS - MISSION STATEMENT

For years there have been people in the African/Caribbean community that have done jobs and filled roles that have benefited others of their community.

These people have gone about these jobs selflessly and tirelessly with no thought of gaining any reward other than a job well done.

However simple these roles have seemed they have played a vital role in maintaining the fabric of what it means to be African/Caribbean, from the food, to the music, to the style and fashion.

It had occurred to me that these people DESERVE some kind of recognition, and what better recognition than that of your peers.

This is the reason why I decided to establish the 'Leeds African/Caribbean (Black) Awards' as a platform for those who are doing great and valuable things for their community without the accolades.

There have been other community award ceremonies but these have failed to encompass the wider community; the aim of these awards is that they are FOR the community, BY the community.

I would also hope that these awards will INSPIRE others who are striving to elevate the community by helping them to realize that in this time, positive steps must be rewarded.

I subscribe to the maxim "Every mickle makes a muckle" and I hope that this Awards Ceremony can help to move the community to a place where it becomes EXACTLY that………. A COMMUNITY!

If you feel that YOU know any deserving individuals in any of the categories, then use your vote and show them that you recognize their contribution.

One Love
