Winner for the Contribution To Sport Award 2011: Vernol Blair

Leeds Black Awards is an annual event that was set up to celebrate the achievements of people of African lineage in Leeds.

It is also designed to celebrate those who contribute to the ‘Black experience’ irrespective of their race (as was evidenced by one of this year’s awards).

The nominees for each category are established primarily online via the LBA website www.leedsblackawards.com).

Player, Coach and Manager at the legendary Fforde Grene Football team for much of his career, this hugely decorated player dedicates his life to the development of talent in his community.
